Intumescent Fire-Resistant Strip

An intumescent fire-resistant strip which is fitted around the frame of a door. In the event of a fire, the strip will expand, preventing the fire from spreading.

An intumescent strip supplied as fire only or fire and smoke. Supplied in three sizes, 10mm x 4mm, 15mm x 4mm and 20mm x 4mm. The different size strips are for differing fire door ratings

Groove the door edges or opposing door frame in a central position, to suit the size strip being used. Seals must be fitted into the groove just wide enough to accept them. Ensure the groove is dry and free from dust and grease. Seal the timber groove with a proprietary sealer or paint to give greater adhesion for the strip. Peel off the protective backing tape and press the seal into position (the adhesive should be in the base of groove). The PVC casing should be flush with the surrounding wood of either the door or frame.
